Message from Chair of the Board

Message from Chair of the BoardOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The Peace and Development Aid Organization (PDAO) continues to add great value to poor rural communities in Cambodia. I commend this annual report to you and thank all the staff for their outstanding efforts.

2016 has been a very difficult year for Non-Government Organizations in Cambodia. The downturn in the world economy has led to a reduction in the funding available to organizations involved in the implementation of aid programs. PDAO has not been alone in having a difficult year. This was reflected in a poor success rate for new projects for which applications were submitted in 2016 and in the lack of opportunity to bid for new projects.

PDAO was fortunate in having several continuing programs from 2015 to complete in 2017 and has been able to maintain its core expertise and potential to expand its business when the opportunity presents. At the time of writing this report the situation is changing and PDAO’s reputation of being able to deliver complex projects and achieve the desired outcomes is starting to result in new projects.

On behalf of the Board I want to thank those funding organizations and donors that have supported PDAO in the past and have continued to believe in our capacity to help poorer Cambodians enjoy a better life. We look forward to your continuing support.

The Board thanks the staff of PDAO for their hard work and professional and dedicated approach during this difficult period.

I would also like to thank my fellow Board members for their personal and voluntary contribution to the overall governance of PDAO.

The Board highly appreciated with a renewed sense of purpose and direction of PDAO 5 Years Business Plan for 2017-2021. The Board is confident of a bright future implementing our existing Vision and Mission, but perhaps with a tighter focus on PDAO’s strengths in community engagement and in the development of partnerships for delivery of our programs.

Yours sincerely
